Debbie Yare

I am a visual artist working across media with an interest in photography, video, sound,
drawing, writing, and performance. My practice is largely concerned with understanding,
recording, and translating direct experiences of environments on and around Morecambe Bay, where I live. Much of the work evolves through the act of walking and engaging in long term collaborative practices with the environment.

Recent work looks at aspects of time in relation to place, coastal ecology, and climate
change. I spend extensive lengths of time working ‘in the field’, often between Hest Bank
and the River Keer estuary in Lancashire – A dynamic coastal environment where nothing
stays the same for long.

Working collaboratively with the environment has encouraged me to develop dialogues
and collaborations with other artists, ecologists, physical scientists, and the local
community.
